With an elevation of 7,220 feet, the Wyoming basketball teams have always enjoyed playing on the "Highest Courts" in the nation. Built in 1982 at a cost of $15 million, the Arena-Auditorium is one of the most beautiful basketball arenas in America.

Tabbed the "Dome of Doom" by Wyoming opponents because of UW's high home winning percentage, the Arena-Auditorium is visible from a great distance on the High Plains. The Double A seats over 15,000 screaming fans and was erected essentially for Wyoming basketball games. The first game played in the AA was February 20, 1982. The Cowboys defeated Air Force 59-29 in the final home game of that season before a capacity crowd of 15,004. In the history of the AA, Cowboy Basketball has attracted 71 crowds over 10,000. This fabulous facility served as host of the 1986 and 1991 Western Athletic Conference Basketball Championship Tournaments.
